Adnouce Reader doesn’t have accounts and doesn’t run a server that stores your books. This page lists everything the app keeps and everything it sends.
Your books and reading data
Books you import are stored in the app’s folder in your iCloud Drive. Your reading progress, saved passages and per-book settings sync through your private iCloud database. Both are held by Apple under your Apple Account and covered by Apple’s privacy policy. Adnouce can’t see them. If iCloud is off, everything stays on your device.
Crash reports
When the app crashes, it sends a crash report to Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service. A report includes the app version, device model, system version and where in the app’s code the crash happened. When an error is recorded without a crash, only the error’s type and code and the place it happened are sent, never its message, which could include a file name.
Crash reports are on by default. Turn them off in the app’s Settings with Send Crash Reports.
Anonymous usage data
If you choose Share when the app asks, it counts a few actions with Google Analytics for Firebase: importing a book, opening a book, saving a passage, and changing the reading mode, horizontal reading or theme. These counts never include book titles, file names or anything you read.
Usage data is off until you choose. Change it any time in Settings with Share Anonymous Usage Data.
Update checks
The app checks Firebase Remote Config for the latest required version, even before you choose about usage data. That request carries your country, language, time zone, system version and a Firebase installation ID, which is a random ID for this install of the app.
What the app doesn’t do
- It doesn’t use the advertising identifier or track you across apps.
- It doesn’t sell or share data for advertising.
- It never sends your books, their titles or file names, or your passages.
Children
The app isn’t directed at children and doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from them.
